There are programs and organizations that have discounted, gently used, or donated medical items, some of which have never been used. Look below to find suggestions on whom to contact and where to look. In addition to these, your local senior center, council on aging, or independent living center may have equipment available for loan or sale. Note that some assistive devices require an evaluation or recommendation from a rehabilitation specialist, such as physical or occupational therapist. These specialists determine whether assistive devices are appropriate for you. Rehabilitation specialists also ensure that you can use them safely and that they are properly fit for your height and weight.
