Exercise Classes at APDA
Exercise Program · Iowa, United States
Exercise Classes at APDA APDA Iowa and community partners across the state offer a variety of exercise classes. Exercise is one of the most powerful tools available to people living with Parkinson’s. It can help improve balance, flexibility, strength and overall quality of life – and emerging research shows it might even help slow the progression of PD. Funding for the classes is provided by the generosity of APDA’s faithful donors, so they are available at no cost to people with Parkinsons. Contact the APDA Programs and Community Engagement Manager, Stephanie Wilson, at 515-207-9332 for more information. Registration is required and can be completed below. Class Levels LEVEL 1: Participants exercise seated or standing with support. Movements are done at a pace and intensity that are appropriate for each participant. LEVEL 2: Participants must be able to walk and stand up from a chair without assistance. Most exercises are done standing. LEVEL 3: Higher intensity, faster paced classes where participants perform multiple step exercises and may get on/off the floor.
