Overview Have you been living with Parkinson’s disease for five or more years and now find yourself: Struggling more with the motor and non-motor symptoms of PD? Taking more time or needing help with dressing, grooming, meal preparation, shopping, paperwork, driving, and other tasks? Experiencing changes in mood or thinking? More concerned about the future? Unable to do some things that you used to enjoy? If so, you might be a good fit for APDA’s newest series – PRESS ON This special 8-week program for people who are in the middle stages of Parkinson’s disease. PRESS ON offers the opportunity for connecting with others with Parkinson’s disease for emotional support and sharing. The group also provides education about the progression of Parkinson’s disease and planning for the future. Individuals who might be a good fit for the group are people who have been living with Parkinson’s for 5+ years and are experiencing noticeable symptoms of PD that make daily life harder. Care partners are encouraged to attend the PRESS ON sessions, although the individual with PD should be able to attend alone if necessary. Topics Covered: The Road Here Healthcare in Parkinson’s Disease Safety, Environment, Exercise Mood, Cognition, Behavior Impact of Parkinson’s on Daily Coping and Relationships Planning for the What ifs Caring for Others, Caring for Yourself Maintaining Hope in the Path Forward FURTHER INFORMATION & PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to commit to attending all eight weeks – these are not drop-in sessions. Care partners or family members are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Program is free of charge. Pre-registration required. Program is limited to 12 participants Next Session In-Person Program – April 21, 2026, through June 9, 2026, meeting every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for eight sessions at UCONN Health Neurology, 5 Munson road.
